Good catch. You are absolutely correct. However, I think the galvanized is ok in short term use. No heat or acid to break down the coating. No long term internal exposure. If any discoloration appears on the metal, it’s done. And drink lots of milk to counter any excessive absorbing of the properties of the galvanized. I wouldn’t recommend filing. To coarse. A high speed sanding disk (flap-wheel) 320-600 grit on a small hand grinder. But then redip in galvanize? I’d just get something bett
